About Artist
Mei Chee Seong, originally from Alor Setar, Malaysia, is an architect and an avid urban sketcher.
In 2022, he co-founded COEX with the support of his expertise at aLM Architects. COEX is a community experimental platform, which has allowed him to explore various creative pursuits. Mei has a wide range of hobbies, including aquascaping, participating in Ironman competitions, coffee brewing & roasting, woodfire oven cooking, and, most importantly, urban sketching.
Urban sketching started as a simple hobby for Mei but quickly became a significant part of his life. His sketches capture the essence of the places he visits, providing a window into the unique characteristics of each location. From the lively streets of Hong Kong to the peaceful mornings in Pokhara, Mei’s sketches tell the stories of his travels and the diverse cultures he encounters.
Mei believes that every city has its own DNA, shaped by its people, policies, and cultural values. Through his sketches, he aims to share these unique stories with others. His work reflects a deep appreciation for the world around him and a desire to connect with different places and people through art.
