Yan Huai. Born in Penang in 2000, he developed an early passion for drawing and handcrafts, growing alongside the Urban Sketchers Penang community and cultivating a strong interest in on-location sketching. He later moved to Taiwan to study Industrial Design, where his willingness to experiment across media and challenge conventions shaped a versatile and evolving sketching language. Now an active member of the local urban sketching community, he uses creation as his primary means to navigate an unfamiliar, conflicted environment and an evolving sense of identity.
Lay T’ng. Working with ceramics, she navigates between functional objects and artistic expression. Drawing from digital modeling, illustration, and keen observation of people, her practice centers on figurative forms. Through quirky, cartoon-like characters combined with the traditional ceramic technique doucai, she reflects on how Asian identities in contemporary society remain shaped by inherited traditions, influenced by her transition from multicultural Penang to Taiwan.
