Conversation with four of our Southeast Asian friends, passionate collectors and gallerists, whose practices have contributed significantly to the regionโs contemporary art ecosystem: Malaysian collectors Bingley Sim and Pakha Sulaiman; Sukontip Fon Nakasem, founder of La Lanta Fine Art and Warin Lab Contemporary (Thailand); and Tom Tandio, founder of IndoArtNow and Fair Director of Art Jakarta (Indonesia).
Together, the conversation will look into the motivations and imperatives that shape contemporary collecting practices, how collectors contribute to the construction of cultural narratives, the formation of artistic publics, and the sustainability of creative ecosystems. Moderated by Ivan Gabriel, the session also reflects on the increasingly visible role of collectors within the wider art ecology, where private initiatives engage with institutional frameworks and public discourse.
