After going viral in Tainan last year, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦-𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 by Sim Chan is now unveiling in Penang! This time, it includes three major series: the 3D light sculpture 𝘐𝘯 𝘌𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, the light-painting installation series 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦, and the floating cable car series 𝘞𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 traversing the space.
Exclusive works inspired by Malaysian culture and everyday life — including the Thaipusam coconut-smashing ritual, durian, and the long-gone Penang tram were created specially for this Penang version. The finishing touches of several elements were completed with the help of local collaborators, making this edition gently rooted in the community.
Each piece in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦-𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 constitutes a miniature world, collectively assembled into a theme park-like dreamscape. Sim Chan likens this wonderland to the world we inhabit, guiding us to reflect upon our routine daily lives with playful ease.
