Did you know that many famous New Year songs weren’t actually made for New Year’s? Songs like “恭喜恭喜 Gong Xi Gong Xi” was created to celebrate winning wars, while others like “春风吻上我的脸”, “恭喜发财”, and “过一个大肥年” were made for movies. But some songs written specifically for New Year’s didn’t become very popular.
For this session, 卓昌敏 Toh has dug out his collection of old vinyl records. He’ll be sharing a bunch of songs from the 60s and 70s from Taiwan and Hong Kong that were actually made for New Year’s.
